Rape suspect detained at Bramley Police Station

With rape cases at 10 818 for the fourth quarter, a man in custody for rape at Bramley proves the rape numbers are not decreasing anytime soon.

A man was arrested and detained at Bramley Police Station following the allegation of rape reported to the police.

According to spokesperson Captain Molefe Mogodi, it is alleged that on June 5 during the night, the suspect invited the complainant to his place of residence.

“The two allegedly met during the day and exchanged their contact details. The information revealed to the police was that the complainant was lying on the bed when the suspect joined her,” said Mogodi.

It is alleged further that the suspect was naked when he indecently began to touch her and finally took off her clothes by force, and then allegedly raped her.

“The matter was reported to the police and the suspect was later arrested. The 36-year-old-man will appear in court soon.”

Mogodi said the Bramley police management is happy with the arrest.
“We also like to encourage women to report all forms of abuse.”
