Suspect arrested for possession

Bramley police recently arrested a 24-year-old suspect for being in possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition.

A 24-year-old man was recently arrested for being in possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition in the Bramley policing precinct.

According to Bramley Police Station spokesperson Captain Molefe Mogodi, a team from the Crime Prevention Unit made the arrest while on patrol.

“It was about 20:30 when they stopped and searched a suspicious-looking man standing on the pavement on the corner of 9th Road and 4th Avenue. They approached the man and searched him.”

The suspect was in possession of a firearm, which he was unable to produce a license for, and ammunition.

“The firearm was tested to trace its origin through the serial number and it came out to be a stolen firearm which was sought by Alexandra Police Station in Johannesburg.”

The suspect is expected to appear in court soon.
