Police apprehend three suspects with unlicensed firearm

SANDRINGHAM – Suspects fired at police and two were injured in the process.

Officers of Sandringham Police Station arrested three suspected hijackers and recovered an unlicensed firearm on April 4.
The arrests were conducted in Sandringham’s police precinct, Lombardy East.

According to communication officer Warrant Officer Aaron Lebuso, the members were out patrolling when they noticed the three suspects attempting to hijack a vehicle on the Modderfontein Road on-ramp to the N3. “The suspects fired gunshots and the SAPS members returned fire. Two of the suspects were wounded during the shootout. The three suspects were shortly apprehended and an unlicensed firearm found in their possession was seized.
“Sandringham Police Station Commander Colonel Sanet Williams applauded her members’ swift action which led to the apprehension of the suspected hijackers.”
