Empowerment opportunity for aspiring cricket agents

The South African Cricketer's Association and Champions Drive aims to bring change to aspiring cricket agent's lives

The South African Cricketers’ Association has partnered with the non-profit organisation Champions Drive for a cricket agent programme.

According to David Mashiyi, the founder of Champions Drive, the programme is aimed at educating people about the role of cricket agents. Agents negotiate contracts for players and look after their commercial interests.

Workshops will be held for aspiring cricket agents nationwide starting in May, and people who are currently from underprivileged communities or who work with players from underprivileged communities are especially encouraged to attend.

“Women will be given preference as not many women are in the space. It is important to state that we are not offering job opportunities, but this is an empowerment opportunity that will be a step to greater adventures,” said Mashiyi.

He added for those who wanted to take the next step after attending the workshops, would be placed in an agent programme.

Anyone interested in attending the workshops could email David Mashiyi at davidmashiyi@yahoo.com
