In the end, Smith came out on top, taking the gold medal with a 21–6 victory. Siphali took home the silver medal.

Worthy mentions went to Morningside Country Club’s Gerry Baker and Jason Evans who were knocked out in their respective quarter-final games.

“Baker was up most of the game [but] gradually Prince Neluone [of Bryanston Sports Club] came back and won the game 21–20. Evans, four-time winner, played against young Keegan Sayce from Belgravia Bowls Club. Sayce found form straight away and won 21–4. Evans did not have an answer to Sayce’s consistent bowls,” said JBA president Rob Zimmermann.

In the veteran’s games, Gianni Gatti from Belgravia Bowls Club won the gold against Otto Holicki of Linden Bowls Club, who took the silver medal.

Bronze went to Tony Mazaris from Bryanston Sports Club and Wayne Woodward from Bryanston Country Club.

The title of the women’s singles championship went to Esme Haley from Linden Bowling Club.
