The Commonwealth Games is run from July 28 to August 8 in Birmingham, UK, every four years.

The South African Commonwealth 2022 bowls squad will be using the Wanderers Club in Illovo for their squad practices on April 9 and 10.

Twenty-six players will attend the practices and Wanderers Club has extended an invitation to the public to attend and watch the players on either day and have free access to the Wanderers food and beverage facilities including the Chariots Family Bar and Restaurant.

The Commonwealth Games is held from July 28 to August 8 in Birmingham, UK, every four years.

Five men and five women will participate in four disciplines – fours and singles, and trips and pairs. South Africa will also be sending a disabled team to compete.

The first team squad camp tournament took place in February with 12 squad players competing in three fours teams. All three teams won their sections.

In the finals, the team of Jason Evans, Pierre Breitenbach, Brendan Ferns and Bradley Robinson played against Wayne Rittmuller, Colleen Piketh, Morgan Muvhango and Bridget Calitz. Evans’ team won the tournament while Rittmuller’s team finished in the fourth position. The team of Anneke Snyman, Esme Kruger, Nici Neal and Thabelo Muvhango finished in the top 10.

Also in preparation for the games, players participated individually in the inter-district tournament where Ferns won gold, Neal and Muvhango bagged silver and Kruger and Robinson got bronze.

Prior to the camp in the BSA Masters event, Evans and Piketh won gold and Neal and Calitz bronze.
