DSJ learners set up their own businesses

Funds raised were donated to charity organisation Save the Children: Ukraine Relief Crisis Fund.

The Deutsche Internationale Schule Johannesburg Grade 10 Business Studies learners recently ran their own business as part of an entrepreneurship project.

Marketing manager at the school Savo Ceprnich said, “The aim was to allow learners to have first-hand experience of budgeting, advertising, marketing, competition, teamwork and strategic action.”

Apart from selling products, learners also had to showcase their creativity and talent in order to draw customers which led to their success.

“Our learners worked very hard selling and marketing their businesses and overall their efforts paid off with a substantial amount raised for charity.”

The learners felt strongly that they wanted to donate to charity organisation ‘Save the Children: Ukraine Relief Crisis Fund. The money will go toward providing families with immediate aid such as food, water, hygiene kits, psychosocial support and cash assistance.

Learners also decided to sell blue and yellow ribbons to raise awareness of the crisis in Ukraine as well as supplement the donation.
