Parkview SAPS arrest four suspects for drug-related crimes

GREENSIDE – The station's spokesperson said that all suspects appeared before the Hillbrow Magistrate’s Court on April 4.

Four suspects were arrested for possession of drugs, dealing in dagga and possession of dagga in Parkview on April 1 and 2.

The spokesperson for the Parkview Police Station Captain Tintswalo Sibeko said a high-visibility joint operation was conducted by Parkview police, the Community Policing Forum (CPF), private security companies and patrollers on April 2. The purpose of the operation was to increase visibility and address contact and property-related crimes.

Sibeko said while members were patrolling 7th and 4th avenues in Parkhurst, they received information that a man was selling dagga. A man was identified bearing the description given by the resident. “A 32-year-old man was searched and a full plastic bag of dagga was found in his possession. The suspect was arrested for dealing in dagga,” said Sibeko.

While continuing on foot patrol, a 38-year-old man was arrested for possession of drugs. On the same day in Ennis Road, Parkview, a 28-year-old man was searched and found to be in possession of dagga and was arrested.

In a separate incident on April 1, Parkview police arrested a 20-year-old woman at the corner of Greenhill Road and Barry Hertzog Avenue in Greenside for possession of suspected drugs.

Sibeko said that all suspects appeared before the Hillbrow Magistrate’s Court on April 4.

The acting station commander for the Parkview Police Station Lieutenant Colonel Daureen Nonyane commended the police members, the CPF, private security companies and patrollers for their commitment and dedication in the fight against crime.
