Norwood SAPS arrest well-known actor for domestic violence

HIGHLANDS NORTH – The suspect spent the first weekend of April in custody and will appear before the court of law in due course.

Norwood police arrested an actor in a well-known local drama for assault under domestic violence.

The spokesperson for Norwood Police Station Sergeant Eric Masotsha said that on April 1 at about 15:00, members of the public stopped a Norwood patrol vehicle and told officers that there was a man beating a woman on a street in Highlands North.

“The police went to the identified street address and found a woman lying helpless in the street screaming for help and there was a man dragging her while she was lying on the ground,” said Masotsha.

The police intervened and stopped the man from assaulting the woman.

Masotsha confirmed that the suspect was the boyfriend of the victim and was an actor in a well-known local drama.

“The perpetrator was removed from the community and was arrested and charged for assault under domestic violence.”

The suspect spent the first weekend of April in custody and would appear in court in due course.

Norwood police emphasised that they would not tolerate any form of abuse against women and children.

Norwood police management thanked the members of the public who came forward with the information about the incident.
