The much-anticipated screening of Barbra Streisand’s concert at Arrowhead Park, Anaheim was every bit of joy it promised.
Hosted by the Historic Documentary Film Society, who have hosted many other screenings such as a documentary of Audrey Hepburn and, quite memorably, one of The Queen that showed rare at-home films taken on her cine camera.
As with the many screenings, this Streisand one was also held at the Ditsong Museum of Military History to an audience that absolutely enjoyed the legendary performer’s music.
This screening was quite important to the organisers as it was to honour Streisand’s 80th birthday. The multi-talented entertainer is said to have established a legendary breakthrough when she, for the first time in history, after having starred in her first film, tied with Katharine Hepburn for Best Actress award at the 1969 Oscars for her role in Funny Girl.
Now, close to 60 years later, Funny Girl is going back to Broadway and opening night will fall on the star’s 80th birthday.
The audience was excited to share in the celebration of this artist’s life’s work so far. After the screening, they all enjoyed a lavish tea supplied by The Perfect Cup.
