Local teams celebrates Human Rights Day in an active way

PARKHURST – "Netball has no age limit," says The Parks' Matoni.

In honour of the Sharpeville Massacre of March 21 1960, The Parks and GOT netball teams celebrated Human Rights Day by playing a friendly match against each other.

Even though they are of different nationalities, The Parks netball team gathered together to commemorate the day by hosting a jam-packed game against the Bezuidenhout Valley team of GOT, at Parkhurst Primary School.

Grace Matoni, pioneer of The Parks netball team said, “Regardless of our opponents being younger than us, The Parks team always put their best effort into winning the game, and finding a team of elderly women like us to play against is extremely challenging. I wish we could get people of our age to play with us, netball has no age limit.
“It was a successful day and everyone enjoyed themselves.”

The Parks ended the day victorious.
