Efforts to prevent crime implemented

SANDRINGHAM – Police tackle problematic crimes on the ground.

Sandringham police in conjunction with local security companies and Community Police Forum patrollers embarked on a crime prevention operation in the precinct.

According to the station’s communication officer Warrant Officer Aaron Lebuso, the operation’s purpose was to focus on hotspot areas and try to prevent trio crimes such as hijackings, robberies and house robberies which have become a nightmare in the suburb.

The operation held on March 10 ran from 07:00 to 15:00. “All the hotspot areas where patrolled, vehicle control points were held, shopping malls, garages and other places of interest were visited,” said Lebuso.

“The police and security entourage intensified their presence in every suburb of Sandringham policing precinct. The operation was a success as no trio crime was reported during the operation. A total of about 50 pamphlets warning the public of hijackings and gender-based violence were distributed during the vehicle control points.”
