Parkview police pleased with conviction of accused

PARKVIEW – The Johannesburg Regional Court found Sambiki guilty. The accused will serve a total of seven years imprisonment and has been declared unfit to possess a firearm.

Parkview police were pleased to secure the conviction of Lucas Sambiki for housebreaking and theft and possession of the suspected stolen property.

The suspect was arrested on September 28, 2021, in Parkview.

Parkview Police Station Commander Colonel Devan Govender commended Detective Sergeant Oscar Ranthocha for his dedication and commitment that ensured the arrest and conviction.

The Johannesburg Regional Court found Sambiki guilty and the accused will serve seven years’ imprisonment and has been declared unfit to possess a firearm.

The spokesperson for the Parkview Police Station Captain Tintswalo Sibeko said while the complainant was opening the door for his dogs to go out, he heard a triggering sound of a security beam. He immediately pressed the panic button and contacted a security company. Upon arrival, the security officers searched the yard and found the suspect.

“Parkview police were summoned to the crime scene where the suspect was found in possession of stolen items. The police arrested him and a case of housebreaking and theft, and possession of the suspected stolen property was opened and allocated to Sergeant Ranthocha for investigation,” said Sibeko.

Govender welcomed the conviction and commended the Parkview police members for their hard work. He further acknowledged the partnership between security companies within the policing precinct and encouraged the community to come forward with information that may assist in the investigation.
