Domestic fight results in injuries and arrests

NORWOOD – Police take woman in after she assaults husband.

A woman was detained by Norwood police after she allegedly poured boiling water over her husband.

Norwood police spokesperson Sergeant Eric Masotsha said on the afternoon of March 4, an argument ensued at the couple’s house after the woman accused her husband of cheating.

He added the argument escalated after the husband resisted giving his wife the phone.

“Suddenly the wife got angry, took an electric kettle filled with boiling water and poured it on the husband. The husband lost his right eyesight due to the injuries he sustained.

“Paramedics were called and the victim was rushed to hospital for medical attention. The wife, now a suspect, was arrested for assault with [the intent to cause] grievous bodily harm, under domestic violence.”

He added that the suspect would appear in court in due course. “The Norwood social crime prevention urges anyone who is living in an abusive relationship to report it to any nearby police station before it’s too late.”
