Russian School of Ballet dancers perform well at Dance World Cup

PARKHURST – Founder and director of the Russian School of Ballet Yana Auger is proud of what the dancers achieved at the competition.

Dancers from the Russian School of Ballet, based in Parkhurst, performed well at the Dance World Cup held recently.

Founder and director of the school Yana Auger said that a total of 21 dancers took part in the event.

Some of the top performers from the school included Isla Sanderson (8) who achieved sixth place for the Coppelia Doll Variation in the mini solo ballet (age seven to nine years) category.

Arina Glinskaya (10) achieved first place with Flames of Paris Variation in the children’s solo ballet repertoire category. Arina was also the youngest competitor in this section, where she competed with 11 and 12-year-olds.

The Russian School of Ballet competition team minis also achieved first place for their group number Pizzicatto. The group were between the ages of seven and 11.

Auger commented on the event, “Performing at a competition is a nerve-wracking experience for a dancer. To me, success is when a dancer gets on stage and performs in front of an audience doing their best despite nerves.”

Auger said that while training in ballet, dancers also learn valuable life lessons.

“All these kids know how long and hard they need to train, perfect, repeat, practice, as well as sacrifice parties and holidays to be able to have this kind of fun – the fun of achievement, success and a feeling of accomplishment.

“We are very proud of every one of the dancers and their performance. We also feel privileged to work with them and witness their growth, dedication and beautiful souls.”
