Bramley police were pleased to see a man sentenced to 14 years behind bars following his involvement in a house robbery in Athol.

Spokesperson for Bramley Police Station Captain Molefe Mogodi said on May 10 last year during the night, the accused together with two other men forced their way into a house in Athol where the victim was asleep.

“The complainant woke up to find three strangers in the house. The three men then threatened the complainant who was not alone. The three men tied them up and helped themselves to valuable goods. They then left the house leaving the victims tied up,” said Mogodi.

A case was later opened and assigned to Detective Sergeant Xikombiso Mhlongo. During the investigation, it was found that one of the three men left had his cellphone at the scene. The detective then traced the accused by following all possible leads until he was found and arrested.

The accused appeared several times in the Alexandra Magistrate’s Court where he was eventually found guilty of house robbery.
