Check who drives behind you

PARKVIEW – This is after the resident’s car became a write-off after a car tailing her tried to run her off the road.

A community member advised motorists to be highly alert after a car-tailing resulted in a write-off accident.

The community member who asked to remain anonymous agreed to share her story in order to warn people to be hypervigilant.

The resident said she had been driving her children to school when a white BMW X5 appeared on her tail while she was in Saxonwold.

The driver followed her to two local schools which are 900m apart and that was when she and her eldest boy became suspicious.

“They then tailed me up Donegal Avenue and I decided I would drive to the police station and make a lot of noise. But they then tried to run me off the road from the speedbump, I swerved and reflexively accelerated, and hit a pole very hard. Airbags deployed and I was very smashed up. The car is a write-off,” said the resident.

She added that there were witnesses but the car had no license plate and disappeared very fast. The community member was helped by two residents to get out of the car.

On behalf of the Parkview Police Station Commander Colonel Theledi Gopane, spokesperson Captain Tintswalo Sibeko shared tips to prevent potential hijacking:
