Join the festive Wanderers Pub Run

ILLOVO – The purpose of the event, according to Eichstadt, is to give back to the club, promote a social and active lifestyle and have fun.

Runners of all fitness levels are invited to join the Wanderers Pub Run on 3 March starting at 17:45.

The dress code for this year’s festive event is Mexican meets zombie.

Chairperson of the Wanderers Athletics Club Sam Eichstadt said the Wanderers Club, and particularly the athletics section, put a lot of value on providing members and their running community with social events such as this to promote fun and celebrate the joy of being together out on the road.

“The pub run is a season’s highlight and all fitness levels are most welcome,” said Eichstadt.

Former legendary club captain Graeme Calder began the pub rub informally in 1998 as the ‘end of the running year jol’, but since 2008 it has ramped up to become the event it is today.

The run will begin at 21 North Street, Illovo, at the Spinners Bar at Wanderers Club. Runners will then journey to a number of stops, each 1km apart, including the Wanderers Golf Club, Grate, The Prawnery and Voodoo Lily.

The purpose of the event, according to Eichstadt, is to give back to the club, promote a social and active lifestyle and have fun.
