Join online presentation on Parkwood sewer pipe replacement project

PARKWOOD – Two projects are estimated to take five to six months to complete.

Two sewer pipe replacement projects in Ward 117 are set to commence later this month.

Ward 117 councillor Tim Truluck has invited residents to an online public meeting on February 15 to share more on the projects which will take place in Parkwood.

“One will be Parkwood West south of Chester Road, the other will be in Parkwood East [as per maps provided). They will take five to six months. In some cases, the pipes are in the road, in other cases they are located mid-block along the boundaries at the back of the houses.

“Joburg Water will not have to dig up the pipes. Instead, they dig access holes at various places, insert a new pipe in the old one and crack the old pipes around it. They will need community liaison officers, general labourers and local Small, Medium and Micro Enterprises to provide certain services,” Truluck explained.

He said there would be a Microsoft Teams online public meeting in which the projects would be presented to the community on February 15 at 18:00.

The agenda will be:

  • Welcome and opening
  • Project presentation
  • Questions and answers
  • Closing.
