Bramley Saps welcomes new Vispol commander

BRAMLEY – Colonel Thapelo Molepo began work on February 3 and will be responsible for all 79 members at the station wearing uniform.

A new visible policing (Vispol) commander has been appointed at Bramley Police Station.

Colonel Thapelo Molepo began work on February 3 and will be responsible for all 79 uniformed members at the station.

“I aim to build a good working relationship with all role players in the area including security companies, churches, schools, political parties and any societal formation,” said Molepo.

He said he would prioritise crimes in Sector 1 (Marlboro Gardens, Marlboro South, Wynberg and Stjwetla) and Sector 2 (Bramley, Bramley North, Raumarais Park, Savoy Estate, Gresswold, Bramley Gardens, Kew residential and Kew industrial), focusing on contact crimes, especially murder, house robbery and hijackings.

“I want to involve everybody in the fight to prevent crime.”

Molepo, who previously served at Midrand police, has worked for 30 years in the service.

He said when he was in Standard 4, he wanted to become a policeman and was happy to have fulfilled his dream.

“To be an officer is a calling. I have been called by the Almighty to protect people. I am happy to tolerate the small salaries from government because it is not a job, but rather a calling.”

He encouraged community members to support initiatives by the police and play a part in the fight against crime.

“In one way or another, some have been disappointed by the police. If they come through to our station, they will receive good service. We remain here to serve all, both those who are negative and positive about us.”

Spokesperson for the Bramley Police Station Captain Molefe Mogodi said the station appreciated the efforts of Molepo and welcomed him to the station.
