New vispol commander aims to reduce crime

PARKVIEW – He said that the station will prioritise clamping down on common robberies, robberies with aggravating circumstances and house robberies in particular.

Parkview Police Station has welcomed a new Vispol commander to their station.

Lieutenant Colonel Dula Lucas Mokwena began work at the station on January 28 and said he was committed to regaining community trust.

Having served in the police for 31 years, the past 29 of which was at Jeppe Police Station, Mokwena said he was excited about the move to Parkview.

His role will involve managing uniformed officers (including 56 uniformed and four civilians), planning for the station, assisting the station commissioner with the running of the station and seeing that the community received proper service from members.

Speaking to the Gazette about his start in the police service, Mokwena said it was a calling.

“I’m here for the community. I’m at their service. We will negotiate through the challenges together. I am here to regain their trust so that we can work together.”
