Storytelling sessions for littlies at NCT

PARKTOWN – Mathews aims to bring classes to life with her enthusiasm, imagination and strong singing voice.

Children between the ages of one and four alongside their caregivers are invited to explore a world of imagination and self-expression through storytelling at the National Children’s Theatre in Parktown.

The child-centred sessions with storytelling teacher Tracey Mathews offer a safe and friendly environment for children to build confidence and skills in performing arts and life.

Music and movement activities complement the storytelling to offer a unique whole-brain learning experience which is enriching for parents and children.

Mathews said, “Studies have shown that storytelling enhances language and vocabulary learning skills. It also improves listening ability which is important for learning new things. So a lot to look forward to!”

During term one, activities will be based on much-loved tales led by Mathews who is a passionate musician and artist with years of experience in teaching Kindermusik groups for children and families.

Mathews aims to bring classes to life with her enthusiasm, imagination and strong singing voice.

The term begins on February 1 with classes for one- to two-year-olds between 10:00 and 11:00 and two- to four-year-olds between 11:00 and 12:00.

Sessions cost R600 per term, which includes six sessions.
