Parktown Boys make the academic lion roar

PARKTOWN – The school was pleased with their distinctions in mathematics (20), IT (7), accounting (16) and history (15).

Parktown Boys’ High School is proud of their Class of 2021 matrics who achieved a 99% pass rate.

The school also achieved a 96% tertiary study pass with over 80% of these candidates qualifying with a bachelor degree pass.

Headmaster Malcolm Williams highlighted the achievements of top learner Ihsaan Doola, who achieved a phenomenal average of 93% and eight distinctions.

Doola achieved an outstanding 95% for Advanced Programme Mathematics (IEB), placing him in the top 1% nationally across all independent public school candidates.

Williams said Doola was also a school prefect, head of Roman House, played chess and was fully involved in school.

“His decorum over the past five years has shown that he is a young man who has internalised Parktown Boys’ core value of respect for all,” said Williams.

He also celebrated the results of Jayshal Gokal and Matthew Morkel who also achieved eight distinctions, followed by Burhaan-ud-deen Ismail, Daniel Morkel and Balethi Msipa, who achieved seven distinctions. Anad Patel and Martin Shilenge achieved six distinctions.

Williams also highlighted the AP Maths school average of 67%, comparing it favourably with the IEB’s 60% AP Maths average on a national level.

“It must be remembered that we encourage our boys to stay on the highest level of subject possible, thus in mathematics, we are proud of the fact that 77% of matrics wrote mathematics in their final NSC exams.”

“We salute the 2021 matric group. They have shown courage in adversity, overcoming the many challenges of 2020 and 2021 to achieve a fine set of results.”

Williams also saluted the staff who walked the path alongside learners, never flagging from supporting, guiding and sometimes nagging the boys in their classes to realise their goals.

“Our staff and boys have made the academic lion roar!” concluded Williams.
