Three suspects arrested for housebreaking, theft and theft of motor vehicles

PARKHURST – The three suspects were arrested and appeared in court after multiple charges.

The Parkview police arrested two suspects in Parkhurst for housebreaking and theft on December 29, last year. Spokesperson Captain Tintswalo Sibeko reported that the complainants’ neighbour retrieved video footage which was downloaded and viewed.

“Footage showed that housebreaking and theft had occurred at his neighbour’s house – the suspects had stolen two BMWs, two Ford Figos, one Pajero, one Toyota Fortuner, and electronic appliances. While busy viewing the footage, he noticed a white BMW, with the same registration driving past his home.”

She added, “He immediately contacted the relevant authorities; search ensued and the vehicle was located in Parkhurst. Two suspects were arrested for housebreaking and theft as well as theft of motor vehicles. After a preliminary investigation, the third suspect was traced and arrested in Tsakane, East Rand on December 30. The suspects were linked to four other burglary cases that were reported at Parkview in December.”

Sibeko added that all suspects appeared in the Johannesburg Magistrate’s Court on December 31 to answer charges of housebreaking and theft and theft of motor vehicles.

The Acting Station Commander of Parkview, Lieutenant Colonel Fatima Gaffoor, commended the Parkview police members, Community Police Forum (CPF) and CAP security members for working together to apprehend the suspects. She further thanked and appreciated the community member for alerting the CPF about the vehicle that was committing a crime in the policing precinct.
