The Norwood Community in Blue gives thanks for a memorable year

NORWOOD — The launch of the Community in Blue in Norwood is one of their biggest highlight this year, says the head of Norwood Community in Blue.

Although the Norwood Community in Blue was only launched in the later part of last year (2021), this legal community structure had the most remarkable year with its aim to facilitate community and police relations within a specific police station.

Norwood was the first to induct the first Community in Blue in the province of Gauteng as the first step to implement the Criminal Investigation Branch concept.

“[Last year] 2021 was a year of many difficult roads that often lead to beautiful destinations. Frustration can be a very valuable and essential part of success, even though it can be painful on occasion,” said the head of the Norwood Community in Blue patrollers, Angelo Ekostogl.

“The launch of the Community in Blue in Norwood is one of our biggest highlights this year.”

With only a few weeks left until 2022, Ekostogl said their wish list for the upcoming year is the completion of the provincial registration of Community in Blue patrollers and additional training requirements for members in 2022.

“Thank you to all Community in Blue members who have given without expectation, as we want to continue to develop relations with security companies, SAPS, and residents,” Ekostogl added.

As Community in Blue is a voluntary job, Barbara Lowe, one of the members, said, “Do everything with a good heart and don’t expect anything in return, and you

will never be disappointed.”
