16 constables promoted to sergeants

NORWOOD – The new police sergeants encouraged their community members to be cooperative in the fight against crime so as to make the country better.

The office of the Norwood SAPS station commander recently commemorated the promotion of 16 of its members.

Spokesperson Sergeant Eric Masotsha shared that the 16 constables were promoted to the rank of sergeants. “On December 9, 16 constables were given their new ranks by the Norwood police management led by the acting station commander Lieutenant Colonel Samuel Makola,” Masotsha said.

Makola said it was good motivation when members were being promoted. “It boosts their morale and motivates them to perform their normal duties with pride and dignity. The rank of sergeant means a bigger responsibility, so members were encouraged to take charge and make reasonable decisions when it comes to any form of police task,” said Lieutenant Colonel Makola.
