Husband and wife arrested by the Norwood police for domestic violence

NORWOOD — Both the husband and wife have been arrested on counter-charges under the Domestic Violence Act.

Norwood police spokesperson Sergeant Eric Masotsha has confirmed that a husband and wife have been arrested for domestic violence.

A case of assault with grievous bodily harm was reported to the Norwood police around 18:00 on November 8.

It is alleged that both partners argued about their daughter opening bank accounts from one bank to another, as one suspected she might be committing an unlawful act of misrepresentation or fraud.

Masotsha explained that after the argument, the mother took the daughter’s side despite the husband’s request that the daughter refrains from whatever she might be doing.

“Suddenly, his wife left the house and came back with a rock. She then struck her husband’s head, severely injuring him. The husband then managed to take the same rock from her and hit her on her forehead, causing severe bleeding,” Masotsha said

Both parties received medical attention, which will determine the severity of the injuries as the J88 form is attached to both dockets.

“Both the husband and wife have been arrested on counter-charges under the Domestic Violence Act.

“We urge the public to refrain from being violent toward their loved ones. Let us all join hands and help fight gender-based violence against women and children during the 16 Days of Activism.” Masotsha concluded.
