Parkview police secure conviction of suspect

PARKVIEW – A Parkview SAPS detective’s investigation skills secured the conviction.

A 29-year-old man has been sentenced to four years of direct imprisonment after being found guilty on a housebreaking charge.

Parkview police spokesperson Captain Tintswalo Sibeko said the man was sentenced in the Johannesburg Magistrates’ Court on November 15.

“The incident happened last year August 11, when a 24/7 security officer received a call from the complainant who saw an unknown man jump into her property in Parktown north,” she said. Sibeko added the man broke a window and forced the burglar bars open and entered the house. “Parkview police were called and the suspect was arrested.”

She added Detective Sergeant Zachariah Masindi was allocated the docket for investigation and evidence was gathered and presented before the court of law.

“The Parkview Station Commander Colonel Theledi Gopane welcomed the conviction and applauded Parkview police for their hard work. He further acknowledged the partnership between the police and the security companies within the Parkview policing precinct. “Colonel Gopane encourages the community to come forward with information that may assist with investigations.”
