Cellphone and clothes found in suspects’ vehicle

PARKVIEW – The suspects had been under chase by a security vehicle when police arrived on scene.

Police arrested five suspects for possession of suspected stolen property at Craighall Park on November 21.

Parkview Police Station spokesperson Captain Tintswalo Sibeko said at about 16:15, police were busy patrolling on the corner of Jan Smuts Avenue and Albury Road, Craighall Park when they came across a security company that was chasing a silver Nissan Almera. The police stopped the vehicle.

“The vehicle was searched; cellphone and clothes were found inside the vehicle. The suspects failed to give a reasonable answer to the police about where they found the goods. The suspects, which comprised four females and one male (between the ages of 29 and 49), were arrested for possession of the suspected stolen property,” explained Captain Sibeko.

She added that all suspects appeared before the Hillbrow Magistrates’ Court on November 22 to answer on charges of possession of the suspected stolen property.
