Joburg Ballet invites ballet lovers to a choreography extravaganza

BRAAMFONTEIN – Exciting new choreography will be on display by the Joburg Ballet at the Joburg Theatre on November 20 and 21.

Ballet lovers can watch Joburg Ballet perform at the company’s studios at the Joburg Theatre on November 20 and 21, when Joburg Ballet Raw 2: A Showcase for New Choreography is presented.

This will include four performances – A Midnight King of Love, Table For Two, Diamant and Pride Draama.

Artistic director Iain MacDonald explained, “Joburg Ballet Raw is an initiative designed to provide choreographers with a platform to create new works in a setting where the audience has the opportunity to interact with the process.”
This year’s Joburg Ballet Raw will include the works of Revil Yon (A Midnight Kind of Love), Chloé Blair (Table for Two), Donavin Cicatello (Diamant) and Mbongeni Moyake (Pride Draama).

Joburg Ballet will invite established South African choreographers to engage with the audience and the four aspiring choreographers to explore the creative process. To enhance the value of this experience for both choreographers and audiences, the performances will be followed by interactions between the creators and consumers in the form of question-and-answer sessions.
