Police cordon off section of Oxford Road in Rosebank

ROSEBANK – Police vehicles could be seen were a section of Oxford Road in Rosebank was cordoned off.

A well-known pharmaceutical store on Oxford Road, Rosebank was robbed on the morning of November 18.

Motorists using that section of the road on the morning of the incident experienced traffic delays due to the presence of law enforcement officials.

Rosebank Police Station spokesperson Sergeant Bongi Mdletshe said a case of business robbery had been opened. “[Security officers] were held up by unknown gunmen driving a BMW and a [pharmaceutical store] was robbed of perfumes of which the value is unknown. “A Trio Task Team from the district office are investigating the matter.”

Rosebank Management District (RMD) precinct manager Lerato Khiba said, “RMD received communication that along Oxford Road one lane was affected due to an incident relating to a robbery around The Zone shopping centre. Police and security companies were on the scene for further investigations and no injuries were sustained.”

The management of The Zone was contacted for comment but no reply was forthcoming at the time of going to press.
