As part of the Deutsche Internationale Schule Johannesburg‘s entry in the nationwide competition, 34 learners from the German local school participated in the ‘Be Brave Mzansi’ dance challenge.
Sponsors of the Brave campaign, News24 in partnership with Adcock Ingram OTC, approached the school about taking part in the competition to win prize money.
After a few practice sessions, the school’s talented hip-hop and dance instructor Amanda McFarlane from Cherry Dance and the 34 learners from grades 3 to 9 jumped at the opportunity.
The footage was filmed by News24 and it will be submitted as part of the school’s bid for a grand prize of up to R20 000.
“The message behind the dance is not only to continue to rise against the spread of Covid-19 but also to reflect and remember how far we have come, to dance and celebrate together as one nation and one country, ” said Annette Holtmann, marketing executive for the school.
“The videos will be featured on News24 and submission closes at the end of November. We want to challenge other schools to get involved and get dancing,” she added.
Moreover, the school took to social media and stated, “ To celebrate just how far we have come as a country, we want you to get up and dance, as we rise together to beat this virus.”
