Miss South Africa 2020 Shudufhadzo Musida visited Saxonwold Primary School on November 4, one of Johannesburg’s multi-cultural public schools.
According to Frankie Cilliers, head of innovation at Saxonwold Primary School, Musida’s visit was intended to promote her book about bullying and to discuss the topic with the learners since it also aligns with the school’s anti-bullying campaign.
Through social media, the school thanked Musida for inspiring the learners as they were motivated in many different ways.
“Shudu inspired our kids by encouraging them to follow their dream and to speak up about bullying,” the school posted on Facebook..
“As a child, she was bullied and through her book, Shudu Finds her Magic, she shows that it is possible to be resilient in the face of adversity.”
Saxonwold’s role is to show its learners how to incorporate values into their daily lives, at school, and beyond, by paving the way and providing instructions through its lessons that focus on values.
Musida has been visiting many schools in South Africa to raise awareness and educate children about mental health issues in a way they could understand.
“The book is aimed at children between four and 12 years of age and deals with bullying and the power of friendship.
”I hope that youngsters will be able to see themselves reflected in the storyline and be able to take something positive away from it.”
