Bigger, better and braver at King David High School, Linksfield

LINKSFIELD – King David High School, Linksfield learner, Joseph Joffe, shares on the success of the school's recent Hollard Daredevil Run.

King David High School, Linksfield learner Joseph Joffee writes:

The Awareness and Advocacy and Avirah Committees took King David High School, Linksfield to the streets wearing purple speedos, tutus, and masks.
We painted our faces purple and started running. The Hollard Dare Devil Run is typically run by men wearing speedos in support of those suffering from prostate cancer. This year it was run in several different locations due to Covid-19.

Our school’s run included both boys and girls as we wanted to show our support for each other through the fight against both male and female cancers.

We managed to raise R6 000 from this run, which will go to the Cancer Association of South Africa (Cansa) and the Prostate Cancer Foundation of South Africa, and will be used for awareness and screening of prostate and testicular cancer.

The spirit on the day was unmatched, and every runner could feel positivity, solidarity, and unity thick in the air.

And after a year at home, behind screens it was also about having fun in the fresh air.
