Craigpark Residents Association (CRA) in partnership with Rotary Club of Johannesburg hosted a clean-up in Delta Park to celebrate International River Day.
The clean-up was held on September 27 and local residents, Rotary members, the CAP green team and a large group of learners of St Stithians College came together to clean along the Braamfontein Spruit.
“There were many clean-ups held along Braamfontein Spruit and Jukskei River in celebration of this day. We normally host an annual clean-up around this date,” said Caron Askew who is in charge of the environmental portfolio of the association.
Ward 117 councillor Tim Truluck told Rosebank Killarney Gazette that he was grateful for community members coming together for a great initiative.
“I would like to thank the community in coming out to help keep our green spaces and waterways clean. Well done to all who contributed,” he said.
Askew concluded, “The CRA will continue to host spruit clean ups as the task is endless and the spruit is one of the jewels of our suburb that has seen a significant increase of activity since the start of lockdown.”
