The PRA’s successful Parkview Pavement Chalk Art Competition

PARKVIEW – 100 children show off their artistic skills at the PRA's first-ever Parkview Pavement Chalk Art competition.

The Parkview Residents Association (PRA) hosts it’s first-ever event since the start of the pandemic to usher in spring in the suburb.

The residents association hosted the Parkview Pavement Chalk Art competition on September 18.

This lovely family gathering took place in George Hay Park, situated in the heart of the suburb. A total of 100 children registered for the event and it was only open to Parkview residents.

The PRA, who plays a big role in the maintenance of the park, were delighted to see the locals enjoying the space once again as a community.

Everyone gathered from 14:00 to enjoy a picnic in the park. There were food vendors selling a variety of food and drinks and at 15:00 the competition commenced.

The competition featured three different age categories and there were some amazing prizes up for grabs.

“The four judges had a tough time deciding who to award the top three places in each age category too, since all the children went to so much trouble to produce their wonderful spring pieces of chalk art,” said Caryl Kelly of the PRA.

The Cookie Drop was the main event sponsor, so each child who registered not only got their box of coloured chalk, but a freshly baked cookie and drink in their starter pack too.

The Parkview Residents Association told the Rosebank Killarney Gazette that the event is certain to become an annual event in Parkview.

“The PRA hopes that this will be the start of many more happy events in the park as we see Covid restrictions slowly start lifting and people being able to enjoy the outdoors more, especially with spring in the air and summer on its way,” concluded Kelly.
