OPPS International gives lifelong lessons to women

NORWOOD – OPPS International gives discounted self-defence classes for women in Norwood and surrounds.

On Point Protection Skills (OPPS) International hosted a 60% off sponsored self-defence event for women. The classes were sponsored by Guardians Security, Roxsure Insurance Brokers and members of the ‘Save our Hood’ group.

The sponsored self-defence 101 classes were open for women who reside in Norwood, Houghton, Melrose, Highlands, Orange Grove, Oaklands and Abbortsford. They were held at Waverly Sports Club on September 18 and 19.

More than just self-defence, the company believes that self-protection plays a vital role in survival and true happiness. “Knowing your self-worth and not allowing anyone else to determine your value is empowering and adds to your quality of life,” said founder of OPPS International, Vince May.

“The response to our courses all around the country has been astounding. Women learn practical techniques that are not dependent on fitness levels nor physical strength, We completely shift their mindsets . Our course is just a few hours, but our attendees leave with instant skills and a true sense of confidence,” added May.

One of the attendees, Vuyo Lekwane, told the Rosebank Killarney Gazette that the experience was absolutely amazing as she learnt vital lessons. “The most important lesson that we learnt today was that you can actually use items in your bag to defend yourself and we didn’t even think that was possible.”

Other comments from women who have attended the courses include Erica Kornau, who said, “This course was literally a catalyst that caused me to drastically change things in my own life. It is taught with such passion and authenticity and is something every women should do.”
