Craighall Park mom up for Mrs South Africa crown

CRAIGHALL PARK – Farrah Rymer is a talented fitness professional and mom who was recently named a finalist in the Mrs South Africa competition.

With 25 000 followers on Instagram and her bubbly, sincere personality, it’s not hard to see why Craighall Park resident Farrah Rymer has made it into the finals of the upcoming Mrs South Africa pageant.

The local fitness enthusiast and mom said that during Covid-19 lockdown, she followed the contenders of the most recent Mrs South Africa competition and was amazed by the good work they were doing for the community.
Inspired, she decided she would put on her glitzy-glam shoes and give it a go herself. In December she entered, hesitant at first, but determined it was time to live life to the full – and to encourage her daughters (aged four and seven) to do the same.

She said she was dazzled when she recently heard she was a finalist in the competition, and her husband Darren and little girls were thrilled to hear she would be contending for the prestigious crown.

Farrah has always been in the fitness industry and said she was used to looking after herself, which was part of the preparation for the pageant. She said getting involved with community work, something all participants were required to do, transformed her, specifically her outlook on life.

But then, she is all about transformation – helping to transform Cinderellas into beauty queens through her company Fit Babes Elite, which helps women to reach their health, beauty and fitness goals.

She recently lost two grandparents in a fire and started an initiative – Fire Awareness SA, with Burnshield as a partner – aimed at educating the community about the safe handling of fire.

Farrah and husband Darren, a paediatric anaesthesiologist, have also started an initiative, Smile For Surgery, aimed at putting children at ease before they go in for surgery.

She is also involved in other charity drives, and most recently in organising the Women4Women Charity 4km Walk from the James and Ethel Gray Park, Melrose on October 16.
