Do I need to re-register? #IMadeMyMark

JOBURG – Find out if you need to re-register to vote in the local elections.

With voter registration weekend upon us, residents are encouraged to double-check their voter registration status with the Electoral Commission of South Africa (IEC).

According to the IEC, members of the community only have to re-register to vote if:
• They have since moved to a new home, or
• Your voting district boundaries have changed.

“You must reregister before an election is proclaimed (published in the Government Gazette) or your new details will not appear on the voters’ roll for that election,” said the IEC on its website.

Residents can only vote at the voting station that they are registered during municipal and by-elections.

Please check your voter registration details to make sure that you’re registered and to check if your voting district boundaries have changed. Read more here: Municipal elections 2021: How to check if you are registered and where #IMadeMyMark
