Clean up in support of abused children

PARKTOWN – The Teddy Bear Foundation has reached out to the community and asked residents to spring clean for a worthy cause.

The team of the Teddy Bear Foundation has asked residents to extend a helping hand through spring cleaning for a worthy cause.
The foundation has been providing services to abused children for more than 35 years, and has a high success rate. It operates from three branches and two satellite offices, including one in Parktown. Cleaning costs for all of its branches is R203 086.

Speaking on behalf of the foundation, Edzi Luvhengo said, “The foundation strives to keep its offices, equipment, floors, play areas, toilets, surfaces, and all indoor and outdoor areas clean in order to reduce the risk of potential health threats such as viruses. With the outbreak of Covid-19 at the front of everyone’s minds, knowing that our facilities are being regularly deep cleaned is reassuring for the children, parents and staff.
“To put it simply, eliminating germs and keeping our offices as germ-free and child friendly as possible is an effective way to prevent infections and viruses spreading.”

Luvhengo has appealed to the community to help raise money to cover these cleaning costs. This can be done by spring cleaning one’s cupboards and selling unwanted goods and then donating funds to the foundation, donating pre-loved goods to the non-profit organisation for them to sell or supporting through monetary donations.
“All donations entitle you to an 18A tax certificate,” said Luvhengo. “Remember to put your name and ‘CLEAN’ as a reference.”

To receive the banking details, email luvhengo at edzil@ttbc.org.za or call 011 484 4554.
