EFF officials gather at Rosebank Police Station

ROSEBANK –The EFF has opened a case against the South African Human Rights Commission.

The streets outside the Rosebank Police Station were ablaze with red on Tuesday morning (August 31), when the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) arrived in all regalia to open a case against the South African Human Rights Commission and the Commission for Gender Equality.

The case concerns women who were allegedly forcefully sterilised in South African hospitals by state doctors and was officially opened by EFF national chairperson Veronica Mente.

Pedestrians stopped to look at the crowds with red T-shirts and berets, who shouted ‘Amandla! Awethu!, and sang together, waving flags and chanting in unison.

The Rosebank Killarney Gazette was notified about the protests by Rosebank Police Station spokesperson Sergeant Bongi Mdletshe, who said the members had arrived at the station at 10:00 to open the case.

The adrenalin of the moment, and the excitement and tension was tangible in the air, as party members demonstrated their unity to onlookers at the Sturdee Avenue premises.

A white car and bus carried EFF members and leaders to and from the site.

This is a developing story, updates will be made as they become availble.
