10 000 frontline healthcare workers to receive vouchers

JOBURG – The healthcare workers are encouraged to use the vouchers to take a break, because they deserve it.

In light of recent challenges South Africans have faced, SPAR has implemented a number of initiatives to give back.

Whether it be the coronavirus pandemic or unrest amid the bitterly cold weather, South Africans have had to forge on and remain positive.

One initiative promoted by SPAR retailers, ambassadors and the group as a whole, is the #Takeabreak campaign, which is aimed at frontline healthcare workers.

In this, 10 000 frontline healthcare workers will receive vouchers of R50 each, which they are encouraged to use for a 10-minute break for a cup of coffee, chocolate or piece of cake at any SPAR store.

“On our own, the challenges we face may seem insurmountable, but as a community we can solve the problems together and contribute to a prosperous future,” said Brett Botten, CEO of the SPAR group.

“We are living in unprecedented times. People talk of the new normal but what we are experiencing is far removed from normality. No matter the circumstances, if there is one truth we have learned through all of this, it is that we are better together.”

SPAR has reached out to major private hospital groups, government hospitals and emergency services in Gauteng that will receive #Takeabreak vouchers.

The theme for this year’s SPAR Women’s Virtual Challenge is to #LiveLimitless.
