Wins for Wanderers Club badminton players

ILLOVO –Wanderers Club badminton team members excel in tournament held in Kimberley.

The Wanderers Club congratulates badminton players following achievements at the Golden Eagles tournament in Kimberley. The four team members of the Southern Gauteng team recorded some noteworthy achievements at the Golden Eagles tournament which took place in Kimberley from June 6 to June 12.

The tournament included inter-provincial matches plus individual events in which the team members did incredibly well. Senior coach Johan Croucamp increased the number of his South African titles to 160 by winning all 3 events – singles, doubles and mixed doubles. Eileen Howson and Johan Croucamp retained their mixed doubles title.

Rhona Fuller and Eileen Howson won the ladies’ doubles plate event with Les Brazier the runner-up in the men’s singles plate event. Attie Kennedy and Les Brazier were runners-up in the men’s doubles final with Norah du Plessis and Les Brazier reaching the semi-final of the plate event. The team told the Rosebank Killarney Gazette that, other than sore muscles and weary bodies, the event was most enjoyable and a great time was had by all.
