Police arrest two suspects, another fatally wounded following chase in Parkhurst

PARKHURST – Police are investigating a case of possession of unlicensed firearms and attempted murder.

A suspect was fatally wounded and two others were arrested for possession of unlicensed firearms and attempted murder in Parkhurst at about 7pm on 30 May.

The spokesperson for the Parkview Police Station Captain Tintswalo Sibeko said Rosebank police members were patrolling in Parkview when they noticed a suspicious silver BMW 325i with three men inside.

“When they [the suspects] saw the police vehicle, they started driving faster. The police chased after them until the intersection of 7th Street and 1st Avenue West in Parkhurst, where the BMW lost control and collided with the pavement,” added Sibeko.

She added that all the suspects jumped out of the vehicle and started running but two of them were apprehended with assistance from security officers.

The third suspect was fatally wounded.

Sibeko said police recovered two unlicensed firearms inside the vehicle which also had a false registration number.

Parkview police are investigating a case of possession of unlicensed firearms and attempted murder.
