Five arrested for suspected stolen vehicle

HIGHLANDS NORTH – The vehicle was already under the police radar with a case number from Ennerdale.

Five suspects were arrested by Norwood police after the car they were in was found to be a suspected stolen vehicle.

Spokesperson Sergeant Eric Masotsha said on 12 May at about 10.30 am, the police’s provincial operator requested Norwood police members to check on a suspected stolen motor vehicle which was seen at the corner of Louis Botha Avenue and 6th Street in Highlands North.

“On their arrival, the police spotted the same make of car and registration [provided by the operator] with five occupants.

“All five suspects were asked to produce documents of the lawful owner but nothing was produced. All [five] were arrested for possession of the suspected stolen motor vehicle and were detained at the Norwood Police Station,” Masotsha said.

He added that the recovered motor vehicle was taken to the police pound and further police investigations would be conducted.
Masotsha said all the suspects would appear in court in due course.
