Parkview Community Police Forum calls on the community to join patrollers

PARKVIEW –The Parkview Community Police Forum needs new members to join their team.

Parkview Community Police Forum (CPF) is calling on the public to join their team of patrollers.

The patrollers help to ensure that the Parkview precinct becomes a safer and more secure environment for all.

“CPF patrollers are volunteers from the community who agree to spend a certain number of hours in their cars, patrolling the streets as ‘eyes and ears for the police. These volunteers need to have their fingerprints taken by police, wear an identification card, adhere to a code of conduct and to all laws of the country,” said Mark Middleton, the communications portfolio holder of Parkview CPF.

The team of patrollers in Parkview works hand in hand with Parkview Police Station to help tackle crime in the area. “They go on patrols by reporting on and off duty at the police station. The patroller coordinator assists with logistics and police requirements. Patrollers will wear reflective jackets and use two-way radios to communicate with the police. Patrollers are not law enforcement officials.”

Patrollers are required to live in the Parkview precinct, be disciplined about adhering to the Code of Conduct, and have the willingness and volunteer spirit to help the police fight crime and reporting any suspicious activity. The precinct includes suburbs such as Craighall Park, Parkhurst, Parkview, Westcliff, Emmarentia, Parktown North, Parktown West, Greenside, Roosevelt Park, and Dunkeld West.

If you would like to join the team or would like more info, please visit https://form.typeform.com/to/Urb6TAtz, and the Parkview CPF team will be in contact with information on the next steps.
