Services still suspended at Charlotte Maxeke

PARKTOWN – The hospital recently announced that as soon as the fire compliance certificate is issued then they can phase-in services.

Residents who make use of Charlotte Maxeke Hospital services can expect to wait a little bit longer. Plans had been made to conduct a phased-in resumption of services, however, on 10 May the hospital announced that services are still suspended. Hospital spokesperson Lungiswa Mvumvu said,

“We are waiting for a fire compliance certificate to resume services. Patients are referred to hospitals or clinics closer to their residences and where specialised care is required there is a list provided to the Gauteng Citizen Relationship Hotline number to direct patients,” Mvumvu said.

She added that they do not have an estimated time of how long the further wait will be but as soon as the compliance certificate is issued, and the hospital is deemed safe, the services will be phased in.
