Park Care appeals for Mother’s Day donations

PARKTOWN WEST – Smith said that any donation from the community would be received with open arms, be it cakes, chocolates, biscuits, toiletries or financial contributions.

Park Care Centre in Parktown West appeals to community members to support the mothers in their care by making them feel loved and appreciated on Mother’s Day.

Business development officer at the centre Jaqui Smith said the centre always endeavoured to make life special for their residents on every occasion.

“We want every nursing care resident to know they are treasured and loved, regardless of their circumstances,” said Smith.

She added that the pandemic and subsequent lockdown has curtailed the freedom of residents with many now unable to go shopping or visit friends and family to protect their health.

“It is our desire to endow them with gifts and treats to assure them that they still mean a lot to not only management and staff but also the society outside the borders of Park Care’s walls.”

Smith said any donation from the community would be received with open arms, be it cakes, chocolates, biscuits, toiletries or financial contributions.

The centre currently houses 180 female residents between the ages of 30 and 99. This does not include the 210 elderly and frail women in home-based services in the less privileged community of Vrededorp. If excess donations were given, these will be donated to that community, said Smith.

Park Care is a non-profit organisation reliant on families and community members to contribute to the centre’s upkeep.
