Faulty valve at Randjieslaagte Reservoir being replaced

GLENHAZEL – Moerane encouraged residents to follow Johannesburg Water on social media to receive regular updates.

MMC for Environment and Infrastructure Services Councillor Mpho Moerane assures residents of Bramley, Kew, Melrose, Glenhazel, Sandringham, Lyndhurst and surrounds that Joburg Water is attending to the faulty valve before the inlet at the Randjieslaagte Reservoir affecting water supply.

“This morning, Rand Water will be isolating supply to the reservoir as the 600mm valve needs to be replaced. The depot is sourcing the relevant material at present and draining the line to prepare for excavation. Once the line is drained, the team will commence work,” said Moerane.

Glenhazel resident Marilyn Braude contacted the Gazette following months of interrupted water supply to her home.

“To date, we still have no water although promised we would have by yesterday and certainly by this morning.”

“The elderly and frail are unable to collect water from water tanks as you can well imagine.”

“This situation is dire and will soon be a health issue,” said Braude.

Moerane encouraged residents to follow Johannesburg Water on social media to receive regular updates (@JHBWater).

“Additional Jojos and roaming trucks will be supplying water at the critical sites,” said Moerane.
