Norwood police arrest suspect found in possession of drugs

NORWOOD – The suspect will appear in court in due course.

Norwood Police Crime Prevention Members cornered and arrested a man for possession of drugs in Orange Grove at 2.30pm on 17 March.

A spokesperson for the Norwood Police Station Sergeant Eric Masotsha said that members Sergeant Nicolas Mello, Sergeant Hoffman Mampha and Sergeant Lesley Rammutla removed the suspect.

The drugs found in his possession were wrapped in black plastic bags. The police also found over R500 in cash on him.

Masotsha said that when the suspect was asked about where he found the substances, he failed to provide an explanation.

The suspect was detained at the Norwood Police Station and exhibits were registered in the station’s official documents.

He will appear in court in due course.

“We plead that community members refrain from taking or dealing in drugs because, if caught, they will face the might of the law,” said Masotsha.
